the Mona Lisa Project
Sally Weber
Sally Weber has worked with light as a three-dimensional material for over thirty years. She was introduced to holography through the Center for Advanced Visual Studies at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she received her Master degree.
Her early light installations explored dimensional light and color in its purest form for sculptural and architectural-scaled installations illuminated by sunlight. The Strata Series works used the holographic technique of interferometry to suggest psychological depths hidden beneath the surface of the human figure. Recently Weber has been working with photography and video to explore subtle remnants of memory caught in passing.
The recipient of numerous awards, Weber has exhibited widely in the US, Canada, Europe and the Far East. She is currently working on two digital holographic projects, one for a book to be published later this year (2010).
